Cambridgeshire man fined for racist messages to Djed Spence

Brian Bealey, 69, has been fined £1,000 after pleading guilty to sending racially offensive and degrading messages on the social media platform X. The messages were directed at professional footballer Djed Spence between March 17 and 29.

The investigation was conducted by the Cambridgeshire Constabulary’s Football Policing Officer in collaboration with the UK Football Policing Unit. The case originated from a referral by the Football Association and the Premier League following an England fixture against Uruguay.

Authorities identified Bealey through the X account used to post the racially aggravated and grossly offensive content. Detective Sergeant Dominic Carminati stated that the case demonstrates individuals using anonymous accounts to target others with racist abuse can be identified.
