Cambridgeshire Police seize £5,000 of suspected stolen food

Police officers in the United Kingdom seized more than £5,000 worth of suspected stolen food items after stopping a vehicle that appeared unusually low to the ground. The stop occurred on the A16 road between Peterborough, Crowland, and Spalding during ‘Operation Chambers’.

A search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of goods, including 58 bottles of olive oil, 399 packs of chocolates, 14 tins of tuna, coffee, cleaning products, and significant amounts of cheese and chorizo. Items such as parmesan, Lurpak butter, and Babybel were found stacked four-deep on the car floor.

The operation was conducted by the Cambridgeshire Police Rural Crime Action Team, alongside the Lincolnshire Police Rural Crime Action Team, the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency, HMRC, and Immigration officials. A 39-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods.
