Spanish towns upgrade football pitches with eco‑friendly artificial turf

The Cambrils city council in Catalonia awarded a contract to Royalverd Service SLU to replace the artificial surface of Field 3 at the northern sports complex. The new turf meets FIFA QUALITY PRO standards, uses a biodegradable, recyclable material that eliminates rubber infill, and includes a filtration system to capture micro‑fibres, complying with upcoming EU rules on micro‑plastics.

In Getafe, the municipality opened the second phase of the San Isidro sports centre, installing fresh artificial grass on the Gregorio Serrano football field. The €8.5 million project adds four activity rooms, twelve changing‑room facilities, an office for the sports delegation and 50 extra parking spaces, linking the complex with the adjacent San Isidro park. Mayor Sara Hernández said the modernised facility will improve neighborhood quality of life.
