Cambrils International Music Festival launches 51st edition

The 51st edition of the International Music Festival of Cambrils opened on Tuesday with a free concert at the port. Swiss pianist and boogie‑blues singer LaDyva, backed by the Barcelona Big Blues Band, led a blues‑rock set that attracted hundreds of spectators. Organisers aim to sell more than 20,000 tickets and have already sold out shows featuring Joan Dausà and Siloé.

This year the festival expands to multiple sites across the town, including Parc Samà, the Pinaret park and the local Nautical Club, and adds an itinerant circuit in four Tarragona DO wineries – Masmolets, Rasquera, Puigpelat and Alforja. The programme runs through 10 August and will feature a mix of styles, from classical quartet Gerhard, Latin rhythms by Lucrecia, rock tribute to Dire Straits, to a Cold Play homage. Co‑directors Xavi Fortuny and Isaac Albesa said the new model links music with local gastronomy and aims to raise the festival to national level.
