Cambrils Library launches Peace and Non-Violence Reading Club
The Josep Salceda i Castells Library in Cambrils, in collaboration with the Catalan Institute for Peace (ICIP), has launched a new Peace and Non-Violence Reading Club. The program features three sessions led by writer and literary critic Irene Pujadas to discuss literature centered on themes of peace and social justice.
The first session, scheduled for October 28, focuses on Maya Angelou’s autobiography, ‘I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings’, which addresses survival and racism in the early 20th-century United States. The second session on February 17 will examine Dalton Trumbo’s ‘Johnny Got His Gun’, a novel regarding the realities of war. The club will conclude on May 19 with a discussion of Valeria Luiselli’s ‘Lost Children Archive’, exploring family ties and human experience in an unequal world.
