Cameron Garcia sentenced to 188 years for fatal California DUI crash

Cameron Garcia, 32, has been sentenced to 188 years in prison following a 2023 drunk driving crash in Sacramento County, California. The incident occurred when Garcia’s 2007 Cadillac Escalade struck a tree at 101 miles per hour near the Freeport Bridge.

The crash resulted in the deaths of five passengers: Monte Nunn, 29; Faith Samuel, 18; Izabelle Salaz-Stephens, 19; Curvontay Swygert, 16; and Aahliya Garcia, 17. Prosecutors stated that Garcia had been drinking by the Sacramento River prior to the accident and failed to apply brakes before impact. Garcia survived the collision with multiple injuries and attempted to flee the scene, a factor that contributed to the enhanced sentencing.
