Cameron Heyward responds to Jared Verse regarding Steelers-Browns rivalry
Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward has addressed comments made by Cleveland Browns edge rusher Jared Verse regarding the physicality of their recent matchup. Following a Week 4 victory by the Browns, Verse characterized the Steelers' play style as “dirty,” specifically citing double-teaming and sliding as problematic tactics.
Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, Heyward defended the team's actions as standard football play. “Double teaming, sliding, chipping, are those not allowed in our game?” Heyward asked, noting that he has the bruises to prove the intensity of the contact. He added that the team does not “whine about it” and that the previous comments “will be addressed” during their upcoming rematch.
Both teams enter their next matchup with 5-2 records. The upcoming game at Acrisure Stadium carries significant divisional implications, as the winner will take sole possession of first place in the AFC North.
