Cameron Rogers suffers mechanical failure at World Championships

Australian cyclist Cameron Rogers experienced significant mechanical issues during the men's under-23 individual time trial at the World Championships in Montreal. Rogers, a member of the Netcompany INEOS development team, suffered a derailleur failure that forced him to stop multiple times to attempt repairs.

The mechanical malfunction severely impacted his performance, as he was forced to ride parts of the course in an extremely heavy gear, which proved particularly difficult during the final climbs. Despite being a contender for a medal, Rogers ultimately finished in 39th place.

Following the race, Rogers expressed intense frustration regarding the equipment failure but noted that “shit happens in this sport” and that the failure was not anyone's fault. He admitted to considering withdrawing from the race during the height of the incident but decided to continue for the sake of his family and friends.
