Cameroon Development Corporation banana exports fall in June 2026

The state‑owned Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) shipped only 3,085 tons of bananas in June 2026, its lowest monthly volume of the year and a 15.4% decline from June 2025. The drop contributed to a 3.4% fall in total Cameroonian banana exports, which fell to 15,554 tons.

The slump reflects the combined effect of the dry season, which reduces yields, and the ongoing Anglophone crisis that has restricted access to plantations in the Southwest region and limited the supply of fertilizers, pesticides and equipment. Private exporters, chiefly Plantations du Haut Penja and Compagnie des Bananes de Mondoni—both subsidiaries of France’s Compagnie Fruitière—offset part of the loss, together accounting for about 80% of June’s total exports. Banana shipments generated CFA 67.7 billion in revenue in 2025.
