Cameroon families face rising stress ahead of school year

As the 2026 school year approaches in Cameroon, many households are experiencing significant stress. This anxiety affects both children and parents, stemming from various emotional and logistical challenges.

Younger children face the fear of separation from parents, while older students express concerns regarding new school buildings, class assignments, and changing social circles. Psychologists note that this collective stress is often exacerbated by poor planning and limited financial resources, including the costs of tuition and school supplies.

To mitigate these issues, some families are visiting new schools in advance to familiarize students with their environments, as experts suggest that parental anxiety can directly influence a child's emotional state.
