Cameroon launches REDECA project to strengthen local governance

Cameroon is advancing local governance and infrastructure through new initiatives and facilities. The official launch of the Strengthening Decentralization in Cameroon (REDECA) project took place in Bafoussam. Supported by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the project aims to modernize public services and enhance the capacity of local authorities in the urban communities of Bafoussam, Bertoua, and Garoua.

In a separate development, the new City Hall for the Bertoua Urban Community was inaugurated. Minister of Decentralization and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam, presided over the ceremony, noting that the infrastructure is part of a broader national effort to modernize local services. The project was supported technically and financially by FEICOM, with local officials emphasizing that the new facility will improve working conditions and the quality of service provided to the population.
