Cameroon mandates five‑week internship for failed TI baccalaureate candidates in 2026

Starting in August 2026, Cameroon will require students who fail the secondary‑school baccalaureate in the Information Technology (TI) series to complete a mandatory five‑week internship. The internship, running from 3 August to 4 September, will be evaluated and the result will count toward the candidates’ 2027 examination session.

The decision, announced shortly after the 2026 exam results, was confirmed by Henri Bomba, a special communicator for the Ministry of Secondary Education, and signed by Inspector General Jean Pierre Adjaba Biwole. Critics note the short two‑week window for students to find placement and the financial burden on families for transport, attire and meals. Teacher‑unionist Charles Koung described the measure as “wise and relevant,” seeing it as an opportunity for candidates to gain additional experience before retaking the exam.
