Cameroon marks National Unity Day with presidential praise and community celebrations

President Paul Biya congratulated the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) and other political parties for their orderly and patriotic participation in the May 20 National Unity Day parade, highlighting the large turnout and urging militants to continue supporting peace, unity and stability.

In the north‑west town of Njinikom, residents, local officials and security forces gathered for a peaceful celebration. Mayor Samuel Loh Yong joined a well‑organised march where the CPDM featured prominently. Organisers distributed white canes to visually impaired participants, emphasizing inclusion. The event reinforced communal solidarity, with officials lauding the smooth coordination and security presence.

Both the presidential commendation and the local festivities underscored a nationwide emphasis on national cohesion and civic pride.
