Cameroon military deploys reinforcements after Boko Haram attack
The Cameroonian military has announced the deployment of reinforcements to Kotserehe in the Mayo-Sava Division of the Far North Region. This decision follows a Boko Haram attack on the night of October 17, which resulted in the deaths of two people, including the village chief.
During the assault, nearly 30 houses were set on fire and livestock was stolen. Brigadier General Joseph Nouma, commander of the 4th Joint Military Region, visited the affected community on October 20 to meet with local officials and reaffirm the government’s commitment to combating the insurgency.
Mora Mayor Chetima Hamidou has called for increased security measures, including the reinforcement of existing military posts in Kotserehe, Malika, and Godjimdele, as well as the rehabilitation of posts in Kassa, Guirbala, and Kangaleri. The mayor also advocated for new security positions in Igawa Doulo and Gazla.
