Cameroon Ministry of Higher Education tightens professional license rules

Cameroon’s Minister of State for Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo, has issued a strict directive to private higher education institutions (IPES) regarding admission requirements for professional licenses.

Under the LMD (Licence-Master-Doctorat) system, the minister clarified that access to a professional license is strictly reserved for students who already hold a Bac+2 level qualification. Eligible diplomas include the DEUG, BTS, HND, DUT, or equivalent national titles.

The measure aims to stop certain private institutions from recruiting students with only a Baccalauréat and attempting to grant them a professional license after only one year of study. The ministry emphasized that students with a Baccalauréat must first complete two years of higher education to qualify for the professional license program.
