Cameroon police find mummified body at Mercy of God Ministry property
Police in Cameroon have discovered a mummified body buried beneath a concrete slab at a property in Nkoabang, Yaoundé, linked to the Mercy of God Ministry. The discovery was made on September 19, 2026, during an investigation into the activities of the church’s founder, Kedi Samuel Kenechukwu, also known as Ekedi Samuel.
The deceased, appearing to be a woman dressed in traditional blue clothing with gold embroidery, was found inside a broken white and gold coffin approximately 1.5 meters underground. Authorities are currently working to identify the woman and determine the cause of death.
Kenechukwu, a Nigerian religious leader, is currently a fugitive and is wanted by Cameroonian authorities on charges including human trafficking, kidnapping, and unlawful arrest. Cameroonian police have alerted border authorities and requested assistance from Interpol to locate him.
The investigation follows previous raids on properties connected to the ministry. In early September, police discovered 20 individuals held in a basement at another location in Yaoundé, including children. Previous searches at the Nkoabang site also uncovered approximately 30 rooms, vehicles, and large quantities of food.
