Cameroon political analyst alleges election manipulation

Journalist Jules Domche has raised allegations regarding the political maneuvering surrounding Cameroon’s 2025 presidential election. According to Domche, the ruling regime allegedly intended for Bello Bouba Maïgari to serve as a decoy for the opposition. Domche suggests that Issa Tchiroma preempted this plan by resigning from the government and announcing his candidacy early to avoid being sidelined.

Domche also addressed the exclusion of Maurice Kamto from the presidential race. He asserted that the decision to disqualify Kamto was predetermined and would have stood regardless of which political party supported him, even suggesting that an endorsement from the ruling RDPC would not have prevented his rejection. Domche noted that while Kamto’s candidacy was legally sound, the systemic barriers in the electoral process ensured his elimination.
