Cameroon reduces tuition fees by 50% for persons with disabilities

The government of Cameroon has implemented a new measure to support the inclusion of persons with disabilities by granting a 50% reduction in tuition fees. On September 1, 2026, the ministers of Social Affairs, Finance, and Employment and Vocational Training signed a joint decree establishing the application procedures for this discount.

The reduction applies to public vocational training institutions as well as public higher education establishments. This policy aims to lower financial barriers for individuals with disabilities seeking qualifying and university-level education, ultimately promoting better social and professional integration.

To qualify for the 50% reduction, learners must hold a valid disability card and be registered in the National File of Persons with Disabilities. Once these requirements are met, a reduction certificate will be issued, which must be presented at the time of tuition payment.
