Cameroon reports advancements in blood supply and free healthcare access

Cameroon is seeing significant advancements in its public health sector through targeted medical campaigns and improved blood supply management.

In the North-West region, the Achidi Achu Foundation and the Colonel Sunday Nfor Foundation, in collaboration with the regional health delegation and Ascovime, launched a large-scale free health campaign in the Santa and Ndu health districts. Running from September 1 to September 4, 2026, the initiative provides specialized medical services, maternity kits, and enrollment for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to vulnerable rural populations.

Simultaneously, the National Blood Transfusion Centre (CNTS) reported a major increase in national blood supply coverage. During a scientific symposium presided over by Minister of Public Health Dr. Manaouda Malachie, Professor Tayou Claude revealed that the national coverage rate rose from 20% in 2019 to 46.5% by the end of 2025. This growth is driven by a restructuring strategy and an 81% increase in blood unit collections, which rose from 103,359 units in 2019 to 187,224 units in 2025.
