Cameroon secures land for Plaine Centrale agricultural project
In Cameroon, the Ministry of State Property, Cadastre and Land Affairs (MINDCAF) is working with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to secure land for the Plaine Centrale agricultural project. The initiative aims to attract private investors and develop key agricultural value chains, specifically focusing on maize production.
To facilitate this, the ministry is clarifying the legal status of various land types, including national domain, state private domain, and public domain. A dedicated management unit has been established within MINDCAF to handle administrative tools such as lease contracts and detailed development plans. The project also includes measures to identify and compensate local populations for land rights and loss of livelihoods to ensure social stability.
