Cameroon to host ARTAC headquarters for Central Africa
During the 4th extraordinary session of the Assembly of Telecommunications Regulators of Central Africa (ARTAC) held in Libreville on October 20-21, 2026, regional regulators decided to establish the organization's headquarters in Cameroon.
Representatives from Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Chad, and Sao Tome and Principe participated in the session. The meeting resulted in the adoption of revised fundamental texts, including the organization's Statutes, Internal Regulations, and Financial Regulations.
As part of the decision, Cameroon's Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ART) has been tasked with designating the organization's Executive Secretary, following the established rotation mechanism. The session also saw the official launch of thematic working groups aimed at structuring future regional digital cooperation and addressing challenges such as regional free roaming.
