Cameroon targets digital integration and election security
Cameroon is preparing for significant digital and political shifts. The E-GOV’A 2026 conference, scheduled for October 14–17, 2026, in Yaoundé, aims to advance e-governance by focusing on artificial intelligence, data sovereignty, and cybersecurity. The initiative seeks to move beyond isolated digital platforms in sectors like taxation, customs, and immigration toward an integrated, interoperable system that simplifies public services for citizens.
Simultaneously, Elections Cameroon (Elecam) is addressing security challenges ahead of the 2027 legislative and municipal elections. Officials have identified critical threats including cybersecurity breaches, data theft, and the rise of generative artificial intelligence, which can produce realistic but fabricated audio and video. Elecam aims to combat disinformation and potential hacking of institutional websites to ensure the integrity of the upcoming electoral processes.
