Uruguayan teenager found alive in Argentina after cross-border search

Camila Ayelén Rodríguez Caraballo, a 15-year-old Uruguayan teenager, was found alive and in good health in Campana, Buenos Aires province, following an international search operation. The teenager had been missing since Friday, October 16, after being last seen in Paysandú, Uruguay.

The recovery was the result of coordinated efforts between Argentine and Uruguayan security forces, involving the activation of the Alerta Amber in Uruguay and the Alerta Sofía in Argentina. The operation included the Argentine Federal Police, Gendarmería Nacional, and Interpol.

A 37-year-old man was detained during a raid at a residence in the Los Pioneros neighborhood of Campana. Investigators suspect he was involved in transporting the girl across the border from Paysandú via Colón, Entre Ríos, using a grey Peugeot Partner. The man is currently under investigation for suspected human trafficking, and an Interpol Red Notice had been issued for him.
