Camila Rojas Díaz dies following workplace harassment allegations

The death of veterinarian Camila Rojas Díaz has caused significant shock in Viña del Mar and the Valparaíso region. Rojas Díaz, a 2024 graduate of the Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh), took her own life following allegations of workplace harassment and mistreatment at the Mevetlab Veterinary Clinic.

Former colleagues have accused the clinic of a history of psychological abuse, verbal insults, and instances of physical violence. The Coordinadora 8M Valparaíso issued a statement regarding the incident, asserting that the case is not an isolated event but rather an expression of broader patriarchal violence within the Chilean workforce.

The Hospital Clínico Veterinario Lago Peñuelas expressed condolences and clarified that the individual mentioned in the allegations currently has no professional or employment link to the hospital.
