Camilla gifts thousands of books to UK children on 79th birthday
Queen Camilla turned 79 on 17 July 2026 and marked the occasion by donating thousands of copies of the fantasy novel “Impossible Creatures” by Katherine Rundell to primary‑school children across the United Kingdom. The books will be distributed by the National Literacy Trust, of which Camilla is patron, and are intended for pupils aged 10‑11 to receive before the Christmas holidays.
The donation is part of the National Reading Year 2026 and coincides with the release of a new official portrait of Camilla, photographed by Chris Jackson for Buckingham Palace. Earlier in the day Camilla and King Charles III visited the Hall and Woodhouse Badger Brewery, where Charles poured a beer and joked about England’s recent World Cup loss.
