Camilo Duran scores twice in Celtic pre‑season, eyes striker role

Colombian forward Camilo Duran completed a £6 million transfer to Celtic and made an immediate impact in pre‑season, netting two goals in friendlies against Sporting Lisbon and Middlesbrough. The striker said he is ready to compete for the club’s leading striker position, adding that any new arrival would simply provide extra support for the team.

Duran’s journey to Glasgow included spells at Independiente (Medellín), Flamengo, lower‑division Lusitania in Portugal’s Azores, Portimonense and Qarabag in Azerbaijan, where he featured in the Champions League. He highlighted his three lion tattoos, which symbolize his wife, daughter and himself, and a finger‑touch tattoo representing his father.

The player expressed confidence in adapting to European football and emphasized his willingness to work hard and play alongside another forward if required, as manager Martin O’Neill finalises his squad for the new season.
