Ciudad Juárez seeks NADBank funding for drainage projects

The municipal government of Ciudad Juárez is seeking financing from the North American Development Bank (NADBank) to fund critical infrastructure projects. Mayor Héctor Rafael Ortiz Orpinel announced that the city has submitted projects for analysis, specifically targeting long-standing needs for storm drainage and the construction of dikes.

To ensure effectiveness, the administration aims to approach these projects through a binational lens, coordinating with authorities in El Paso, Texas. This strategy leverages the existing sister-city relationship between the two border cities. The mayor noted that NADBank offers low-interest financing, which could support large-scale works, and mentioned the possibility of accessing non-reimbursable resources for components such as risk mapping.
