Camilo Vargas leads Liga MX in penalty saves over last decade
Atlas goalkeeper Camilo Vargas has become the player with the most penalty saves in Liga MX over the last decade. Following a recent performance in a 2-1 victory against Tigres, Vargas reached a total of 19 penalty saves in the ten-year period, representing a 32.2 percent effectiveness rate.
Vargas currently sits ahead of other notable keepers such as Alfredo Saldívar, Nahuel Guzmán, Rodolfo Cotay, and Jesús Corona in this decade-long metric. He is now approaching the all-time Liga MX records, currently led by Oswaldo Sánchez and Jesús Corona with 25 saves each, followed by Adrián Chávez with 24 and Marco Antonio Ferreira with 20.
