Camino de Santiago del Norte offers scenic, less crowded pilgrimage

The Camino de Santiago del Norte, a UNESCO World Heritage route, offers a more secluded alternative to the traditional Camino Francés. Spanning over 800 kilometers along the Cantabrian coast, the route traverses the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, and Galicia.

Known for its challenging terrain and dramatic landscapes, the path requires moderate to high physical preparation due to the frequent mix of mountains and coastal cliffs. The route is noted for having approximately 60% less crowding than the traditional pilgrimage path. To obtain the Compostela title, pilgrims must complete the final 100 kilometers, typically starting from Vilalba in Lugo.
