Camino de Santiago pilgrimage attracts diverse groups of travelers

Groups of pilgrims from different regions have recently completed journeys along the Camino de Santiago, focusing on spiritual discernment and community.

A group of 42 young people from the Diocese of La Spezia, including 35 locals and 7 visitors, completed the pilgrimage in August. The journey was structured around daily Eucharist celebrations, prayer, and the theme of discernment to help participants better understand their emotions and inner lives. Participants noted that the physical challenges of the walk fostered a sense of mutual support and deeper connection with others.

In a separate group, 13 individuals ranging in age from 16 to 71 traveled to complete the final stretch of the Camino Francés. Starting from Sarria, the group walked approximately 100 kilometers through stages including Portomarín, Palas de Rei, Arzúa, and O Pino. The group, which included three families with adolescents, integrated daily prayer and the Rosary into their routine, seeking personal reflection and new experiences through the shared physical effort.
