Cammino dell’Angelo receives international recognition in Washington

The Cammino dell’Angelo of Monte Faito has completed a successful mission in New York and Washington, D.C., aimed at promoting faith, culture, and sustainable territorial development. The mission culminated on October 16 at the National Press Club in Washington, where the project received recognition as part of the 13th edition of the Premio Eccellenza Italiana, an award dedicated to individuals and projects that promote Italian values and expertise globally.

Reestablished in 2006 by Don Catello Malafronte, rector-abbot of the Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel at Monte Faito, the Cammino revitalizes an ancient pilgrimage tradition. The network spans over 400 kilometers, connecting the Sorrento Peninsula, the Amalfi Coast, and the Lattari Mountains to the Sanctuary. It is officially included in the Catalog of Italian Religious Paths and the Atlas of Paths of the Campania Region.

The U.S. mission began on October 13 in New York, featuring participation in an international dialogue meeting at the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute. The delegation also engaged with the Italian American community in Little Italy and visited the Italian American Museum, where a documentary contribution was produced to share the history and values of the Cammino.
