Campact donates funds to SPD and Greens in Sachsen-Anhalt

The NGO Campact has launched a 'strategic voting' campaign to influence the upcoming state election in Sachsen-Anhalt on September 6. According to reports, the organization has transferred 310,000 euros each to the SPD and Bündnis 90/Die Grünen.

Campact's managing director, Felix Kolb, stated the donations aim to prevent a sole government by the AfD, noting a close race between the 'democratic camp' and the AfD. The organization's initiative follows polling that places the AfD at over 40 percent in the region. The goal of the campaign is to ensure that SPD and Green voters do not fall below the five-percent threshold, which could result in lost democratic votes.
