Campaign for Uyghurs hails research on CCP's transnational repression
Rushan Abbas, Executive Director of the Campaign for Uyghurs, has welcomed new research by Adrian Zenz and Muetter Tohti regarding the Chinese Communist Party's alleged campaign of transnational repression against Uyghurs.
The study, which utilizes interviews and internal Chinese government documents, examines a coordinated system used to silence Uyghur researchers and activists living outside of China. Reported tactics include surveillance, intimidation, threats against family members, and the confiscation of passports.
The Campaign for Uyghurs asserts that these actions are part of a broader strategy to obstruct evidence collection, encourage self-censorship, and create divisions within diaspora communities. The organization called on global governments to recognize and confront these methods to prevent the weakening of international efforts to document alleged abuses.
