El Salvador and Panama forecast rain and thunderstorms

Weather authorities in El Salvador and Panama have issued forecasts regarding upcoming precipitation and storm activity.

In El Salvador, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) predicts rain during various periods of the day. While the morning may see partly cloudy skies, midday and afternoon rains are expected in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec and El Bálsamo mountain ranges, as well as northern Santa Ana and Chalatenango. The San Salvador Metropolitan Area and southern Cuscatlán are also expected to experience scattered showers. These conditions are driven by a low-pressure system off the coast of Guatemala and the Intertropical Convergence Zone.

In Panama, the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology forecasts afternoon showers and thunderstorms across much of the Pacific slope. The most intense rainfall is expected in Panama Norte, Darién, Coclé, the Azuero Peninsula, Veraguas, and Chiriquí. While the Caribbean side may see dry conditions in the morning, isolated showers could occur in the afternoon in Colón, Bocas del Toro, and the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca. Authorities have advised caution regarding maritime activities during storms due to potential strong gusts and sudden changes in sea conditions.
