Campania authorities monitor food safety after Airola fire
Authorities in the Campania region are conducting ongoing food and soil safety inspections following the Airola fire. Joint monitoring efforts by the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Mezzogiorno, local health authorities (ASL), and ARPAC have released new findings regarding agro-food samples collected between October 19 and 23.
Recent tests show compliant results for eggs in Paolisi and buffalo milk in Bonea. However, new non-compliance was detected for dioxins in sheep's milk in Forchia. Additionally, three samples of caciotta cheese have shown initial non-compliant results, though these are awaiting definitive confirmation. In Forchia, two olive samples were found to be compliant but contained values exceeding action levels, which requires further evaluation by competent agencies.
Previous non-compliance reports include sheep's milk in Cervinara, pasture grass in Airola, chopped maize in Bonea, and pasture grass in Forchia. Regarding agricultural soil, ARPAC reported nine definitive results that did not exceed contamination thresholds, with further verifications and analyses currently in progress.
