Giorgia Meloni promotes Italy’s ‘right salary’ decree as Campania lawmakers push regional income‑support plan

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni addressed the XIX National Congress of the UIL in Padua, stating that the government’s “right salary” decree makes collective bargaining the decisive factor for decent wages. She emphasized that the contract‑quality approach is a new principle for Italy, linking tax deductions of 5 % to contractual wage increases and pledging that the state’s funds will be targeted at fair contracts. Meloni added, “the door of the government, my door, will always remain open to dialogue and proposals.”

At the same event, UIL secretary‑general Pier Paolo Bombardieri reported that the government allocated two billion euros for labour measures, benefitting roughly 3.8 million workers, and highlighted the full use of funds for public‑sector contract renewals.

Separately, five regional councillors of the Movimento 5 Stelle in Campania submitted a motion to create a regional income‑support and active‑inclusion scheme for families left out of the national citizenship income. The proposal calls for combined financial aid and personalised training, seeking funding from EU, national and regional programmes such as ARIA and the 2021‑2027 FSE+ plan.
