Campania craft beer scene expands with new breweries and taprooms
The craft beer scene in Campania, Italy, is expanding through a network of breweries offering taprooms, tasting rooms, and production tours. In San Giorgio del Sannio, Birrificio Sottobanco has established itself as a notable presence since late 2025. The brewery is a collaboration between master brewer Alessandro De Luca and publican Mario De Gregorio.
Birrificio Sottobanco features a production facility with four fermenters and a taproom that displays artwork by Vincenzo Pedicino and Milena Mädler. The brewery offers eight taps alongside a selection of bottled and canned beers, complemented by local cheese and meat tasting boards.
Other notable artisanal breweries in the region include Birrificio Artigianale Napoletano in Naples, which offers tours of its fermentation tanks, and KOBI Brewing, a microbrewery in the Capodichino area. The regional industry spans from Naples to Sannio, Irpinia, and Cilento.
