Campania extends heatwave worker protections until September 15

Campania President Roberto Fico has extended an anti-heat ordinance until September 15, 2026, to protect workers from extreme temperatures. The measure aims to safeguard health and safety for those most exposed to high heat and solar radiation.

The ordinance prohibits outdoor work in the agricultural, construction, and related sectors between 12:30 and 16:00 on days when the INAIL Worklimate system forecasts a “high” risk level for intense physical activity in the sun. Exceptions are made only for urgent and indispensable operations required to restore essential services following unpredictable events.
