Campania faces road closure and rail service disruptions after accidents

On July 15, 2026, the state road 700 "Della Reggia di Caserta" near Caserta was temporarily closed after a collision between a military vehicle and a truck inside a tunnel, prompting ANAS and police to manage traffic and restore normal flow.

The following day, July 16, 2026, the Circumvesuviana line between Napoli and Sorrento suffered two interruptions. A technical fault halted trains between Barra and Torre del Greco, and a fire near Barra and San Giorgio a Cremano caused a second suspension, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded in extreme heat.

Both incidents disrupted regional transportation in Campania, affecting commuters and tourists and highlighting challenges in infrastructure safety and service reliability.
