Campania implements new coastal and tourism regulations

The Campania Region has implemented new regulations for beach concessions and coastal management to promote year-round tourism. Regional Tourism Councilor Vincenzo Maraio announced that the administration has worked with local municipalities and associations to streamline bureaucratic processes and correct previous regulatory anomalies.

Key changes include revised requirements for beach establishments, such as simplified sanitary facility standards and a greater emphasis on sustainability and accessibility. New criteria prioritize the use of renewable energy, recyclable materials, and improved access for individuals with reduced mobility.

Additionally, the region aims to de-seasonalize coastal activities by encouraging the use of state-owned maritime areas for various purposes beyond traditional summer bathing, including heliotherapy, commerce, and other year-round tourism initiatives. The plan also includes a commitment to ensuring 30% of beaches remain available for free public use.
