Campania issues yellow weather alert for October 22

The Campania Civil Protection agency has issued a yellow weather alert for the entire region, effective from midnight until 4:00 PM on Thursday, October 22. The alert follows a period of orange-level warnings and anticipates isolated precipitation, including potential showers and thunderstorms.

Weather patterns are expected to improve during the morning in several areas, including Naples, the Campanian Plain, the Islands, the Vesuvian Area, Alto Volturno, Matese, Alta Irpinia, and Sannio. However, significant hydrogeological risks remain.

Potential hazards include surface water runoff on roads, drainage system failures, and flooding in low-lying areas. There is also a risk of rising water levels in rivers and flooding of adjacent lands. In specific zones, surface runoff may transport debris. Furthermore, the risk of rockfalls and landslides is elevated due to soil saturation and previous forest fires, which may occur even in the absence of active rainfall.
