Campania launches Civil Protection Week to promote disaster awareness
The Campania Region, in coordination with local Prefectures, is launching the National Civil Protection Week from October 8 to October 19. The initiative aims to promote a culture of prevention, increase awareness of local territorial risks, and encourage citizens—particularly youth—to adopt self-protection measures.
The program includes various meetings, exercises, and educational activities across all provinces. A key component is the “Sulle orme della Fenice” (On the footsteps of the Phoenix) initiative held in the Terzigno pine forest. This program focuses on forest fire prevention, specifically addressing the aftermath of the 2025 fires.
Scheduled activities include free guided trekking excursions through the Vesuvius National Park, ranging from low-difficulty two-hour walks to medium-difficulty four-hour treks. Additionally, the Civil Protection base camp in Terzigno will be open to the public for visits, allowing citizens to learn about the work of emergency operators and volunteers.
