Campania launches tax amnesty for unpaid car taxes starting Oct 15 2026

The Campania regional council has set October 15 2026 as the launch date for a "rottamazione‑quinquies" programme that allows taxpayers to settle debts assigned to the Agenzia delle Entrate‑Riscossione or the regional concessionaire Municipia‑Abaco between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2023. The scheme covers both tax liabilities such as the vehicle registration tax (bollo auto) and non‑tax fines.

Debtors who join the amnesty must pay the principal amount and the costs of the enforcement and notification procedures; penalties, interest, and collection fees are cancelled. Applications can be submitted online through the regional portal or, for debts with the national tax agency, via the standard national form provided by decree‑law 38/2026. Payments may be spread over up to 54 bimonthly installments, each of at least €100.

Unpaid car tax can otherwise lead to administrative sanctions and the issuance of tax collection notices. The new amnesty extends the settlement option to car‑tax debts but does not automatically apply to every outstanding payment throughout Italy.
