Campania region allocates €734 million to transport, tourism and environmental projects

The Campania regional government approved a multi‑billion‑euro programme, earmarking €734.7 million for public transport services (including subsidies for monthly and annual passes) and more than €2 million to improve tourism accessibility and sustainability in interior areas. The same session created four new Natura 2000 protected zones, strengthening regional biodiversity protection.

Separately, Maiori’s new mayor Gianpiero Romano met with regional president Roberto Fico to discuss the controversial tunnel linking Maiori and Minori and the construction of a joint wastewater‑treatment plant. Both officials stressed the need for transparency, environmental safeguards and full community involvement in the projects that will shape the Amalfi Coast.
