Campania region hit by surge in daytime gun violence

In the Salerno area of Campania, a 20‑year‑old man was wounded in the leg after a bullet struck him from a moving vehicle on a street near Via Rocco Cocchia and an auto‑rental shop in Pastena. The shooting occurred between 14:30 and 15:00, prompting dozens of emergency calls and a rapid police response led by vice‑questor Lara Cianciulli. The victim was taken to the Ruggi hospital and is in stable condition.

Later that week, during a Night White celebration in the Secondigliano district of Naples, at least ten shots were fired in the Berlingieri neighbourhood. Police recovered nine 9×21 mm casings and reported that a bullet narrowly missed a child among the crowd. Investigators are probing a feud between two emerging criminal groups, one linked to the Licciardi clan and the other to the Vanella Grass network, for responsibility.
