Campania regional government acknowledges pesticide residue analysis delays

Sebastiano Odierna, leader of the Lista Cirielli Presidente – ECR group in the Campania Regional Council, has highlighted critical delays in the analysis of pesticide residues in food. While regional data shows that sampling targets for the 2023-2025 period are being met—with 1,682 samples taken against a planned 1,674—the primary concern remains the time elapsed between sample collection and the availability of test reports.

During a recent Question Time session, the regional government acknowledged difficulties regarding the completion and transmission of analysis reports. These delays were particularly significant throughout 2023 and 2024, though a progressive improvement has been noted in 2025. Odierna emphasized that effective food safety requires not just the collection of samples, but the timely delivery of results to ensure citizen protection.
