Campania reports 36,727 foreign students enrolled for 2024-2025

In the Campania region of Italy, there were 36,727 foreign students enrolled for the 2024-2025 school year, representing 4.23% of the region's total student population of approximately 867,000. The highest concentration of these students is located in the province of Naples, with 16,847 individuals.

Nationally, foreign students account for approximately 930,000 individuals, or 11.6% of the entire Italian school population. Data from the Ministry of Education indicates that these students are primarily concentrated in Northern Italy (35.4%) and Central Italy (22.4%), while the South accounts for about 10% and the islands for 4.2%.

The demographic data arrives amid political debate regarding government-imposed limits on the maximum number of non-Italian speaking students allowed in individual classrooms.
