Campania schools launch program to prevent youth violence

In Italy, educational initiatives are focusing on preventing youth violence and stalking by fostering emotional intelligence and respect. A three-year experimental project promoted by the Ministry of Education and Merit has launched in the Campania region, involving 134 educational institutions ranging from preschools to high schools and adult education centers.

The program aims to develop non-cognitive and transversal skills, helping students manage emotional distress, stress, and conflict. Rather than relying solely on theoretical lessons, the curriculum uses realistic scenarios, simulations, and cooperative activities to teach empathy, self-control, and the importance of respecting boundaries, such as recognizing a “no” in interpersonal relationships.

Experts emphasize that preventing violence, including digital harassment and stalking, requires a collaborative effort between families and schools. The goal is to address the root causes of aggressive behavior—such as distorted views of love and possession—before they escalate into criminal acts.
