Campeche authorities issue safety alerts for Day of the Dead

Authorities in Campeche, Mexico, have implemented several safety measures and warnings ahead of Day of the Dead celebrations. Anuar Dager, head of the State Civil Protection Secretariat, has issued recommendations to prevent fires during the installation of traditional altars. He advised placing altars in safe areas away from flammable materials and suggested using electric or battery-operated candles to reduce risks.

To manage the expected influx of over 10,000 visitors to the Pomuch Day of the Dead Festival, a unified command has been established. This coordination involves various state and municipal agencies to manage emergency response, vehicle flow, and parking.

Additionally, officials have warned motorists about rocky and sandy debris on Federal Highway 180, specifically near kilometer 176 and the Campeche-Ciudad del Carmen route, noting that cleaning crews are working to clear the roads.
