Campeche Governor delivers aid in Calakmul and faces political endorsement scrutiny

Campeche Governor Layda Sansores San Román conducted a working tour in the Calakmul municipality to deliver social, educational, and productive support. During the visit, she inaugurated a covered court and recreational area in Nuevo Bécal and distributed resources for livestock and beekeeping, including fructose for 74 beekeepers across 16 communities.

During the government communication program ‘Martes del Jaguar’, Sansores also used the platform to endorse Esteban Hinojosa Rebolledo, the Secretary of Welfare, as a potential candidate for the Mayoralty of Campeche. The Governor praised Hinojosa’s personal and professional qualities, stating, “Yo te defiendo mi Esteban.” This use of a government broadcast to promote a political figure has raised questions regarding the potential violation of Article 134 of the Mexican Constitution, which mandates the impartial use of public resources and prohibits personalized government propaganda.
